Tribal Planet Signs New UK Distributor

Monday, April 30, 2007

Music industry experts Tribal Planet have signed a new distributor as part of an ongoing expansion.

Tribal Planet, based in Birtley, Tyne and Wear, has appointed Acoustica to sell Tribal Planet’s innovative gig bags which now incorporates JL Music.

JL Music was set up 25 years ago by John Lawson and was recently bought by Acoustica, the Cleckheaton-based organisation best known for importing and distributing traditional musical instruments.

The company will now become an official Tribal Planet distributor for its wide range of gig bags.

Tribal Planet was set up after director David Wright recognised a need in the market for music accessories with style, innovation and high functionality.

The business revolutionised the guitar gig bag by offering bags with extra protection and versatility for all types of players.

The design has been so successful Tribal Planet is now among the first choice in gig bags across the world.

Fender already distributes the bags across North America and Tribal Planet has a number of distributors covering Asia, Europe and the rest of the world.

Mr Wright said the new deal is great news.

He said: “We are pleased to announce this new partnership today. Tribal Planet is already the first choice of gig bag for young guitar players and we want to extend our reputation for high quality and durable gig bags across the UK. “

Acoustica and JL Music’s expertise in distribution will help us to reach new markets in the UK and will open up an exciting new area for Tribal Planet.

John Turner, partner at Acoustica added: “We have a depth of experience in the area of traditional music which means we are perfectly placed to support and promote Tribal Planets existing lines. “

The old fashioned service and values adhered to by John Lawson combined with the forward looking people at Tribal Planet is a magical mixture for the success of Acoustica as an up and coming specialist wholesaler. “

This is an exciting partnership which benefits both our business models and I look forward to working with Tribal Planet well into the future.”

Tribal Planet was set up four years ago. Mr Wright worked as sales manager and product specialist for Hohner for 11 years.
