Tribal Planet Make New Tunes with Harmonica Business

MUSIC accessories experts, Tribal Planet, have today announced plans to begin selling harmonicas to the world-wide market.

British-based Tribal Planet, known for its high quality gig bags, has launched the Tribal Planet Harmonica Company to provide a new range of high quality instruments.

Tribal Planet has been working with the Jimi Hendrix of harmonicas, America’s Johnny Mars to come up with designs that will revolutionise the market and provide harmonicas that combine quality design and cost effectiveness with innovation and advanced functionality.

The first products to be launched by the new company make up the Planetone range of harmonicas, designed in Britain and made in China.

The Planetone range includes 23 harmonicas including Blues, Tremolo, Chromatic, and Octave. Each model has been enhanced and adapted to give it exceptional functionality and styling.

Tribal Planet was set up four years ago by directors David Wright and Philip Sutcliffe.

Mr Sutcliffe was managing director for Hohner UK for nine years while Mr Wright worked as sales manager and product specialist for Hohner for 11 years.

They set up Tribal Planet after spotting a gap in the market for accessories with style, innovation and high quality. They revolutionised the guitar gig bag by offering bags with extra protection and versatility for all types of players.

Their design has been so successful Tribal Planet is now among the first choice in gig bags across the world.

Mr Wright said they intend to reproduce this success with the Tribal Planet Harmonica Company.

He said: “Tribal Planet’s gig bags have been so successful we decided to look at other areas where we could revolutionise a market. We knew there was a demand for an improved harmonica and we have spent the last three years developing the exciting new range.

“We are bringing to the market a full range of harmonicas that will suit both beginners and serious players and later this year we will launch a new design of harmonica unlike anything ever seen before - so watch this space.”

Tribal Planet will be showing at the Fender stand during the 2007 NAMM trade show.
